Cashmere Molding Incorporated gets a new look

Cashmere Molding Incorporated, an innovative and growing plastics molding company based in Woodinville, Wash., now has a new look. The plastics molder recently renovated the offices in its manufacturing plant and now has just unveiled a new company logo.

Cashmere Molding will also launch a brand new Web site in early April 2010.

Overlake Hosts Student Robotics Competition

Overlake Hospital Medical Center invited students from several Eastside-area high school robotics clubs to try their hand at using the hospital’s newly acquired da Vinci Surgical System, the latest advancement in minimally invasive surgery. The students didn't perform any surgical procedures, but instead competed against each other as they tested their abilities on some of the typical skill-building tasks surgeons use to learn the robotics-enhanced system.

Issaquah High student Greg Finch finished first, winning a trophy and a $100 gift certificate to an electronics store.

Medical Teams International volunteer doctor returns from Haiti

Last week Medical Teams International volunteer Dr. Dan Diamond returned from the disaster scene in Haiti where he spent two weeks performing surgeries and treating hundreds of injured people. Check out this KING 5 news story on Dr. Diamond's work in Haiti:



Dr. Diamond, a resident of Bremerton, Wash. is a Medical Teams International veteran volunteer.This was his third mission with Medical Teams International.

Since the days immediately following the earthquake, Medical Teams International has deployed eight disaster relief teams to Haiti consisting of 35 doctors, nurses and health professionals. The volunteers have been working at hospitals and clinics throughout the area - partnering with local churches and saving thousands of lives.

Medical Teams International has already sent more than $1.5 million in supplies to Haiti - enough to help more than 45,000 people.

Seattle Times: SeaTac venture is not a public use

Last week The Seattle Times editorial board wrote this editorial supporting the Cassan family and opposing the City of SeaTac's use of eminent domain to take away the Cassan's Park 'n Fly property. Thanks to The Seattle Times' editorial, other timely news articles and television stories and overwhelming public pressure, the SeaTac City Council finally rescinded its eminent domain claim against the Cassans.

The Cassans are now focusing their efforts on the development plans they have for the Park 'n Fly property. They are also working hard to raise awareness and support legislation already introduced at the state level by Attorney General Rob McKenna, so that cities can never again try to use eminent domain take someone's private property for private use.

Tasty new food at Overlake Hospital gets more praise!

Overlake Hospital Medical Center has rewritten the recipe book on hospital food - and patients are pleased with the results. The hospital has just introduced a brand new room service program, featuring restaurant-quality food and hotel-style service. The program is unmatched in the Puget Sound region both in terms of quality and variety thanks to the expertise of new Head Chef Chris Linaman, who last worked at the Hunt Club at the Sorrento and the Space Needle Restaurant.

During the creation of the menu, Chef Linaman found it important that the food options reflect the cultural diversity of the region with multiple ethnic options, vegetarian options and "build your own" options for omelets and sandwiches. Patients can now find many appetizing dishes such as Thai Salad with shrimp, chicken or tofu, Grilled Vegetable Stack with lentils and red pepper sauce, as well as seasonal menu items like Penne Pasta with roasted winter vegetables and Tika Masala with jasmine rice and naan. Other entrees include some traditional comfort favorites like Macaroni and Cheese, Classic Meatloaf and Flat Bread Pizza. The program uses the highest-quality ingredients, organic produce and locally sourced foods whenever possible.

Aside from providing exceptional in-room service and delicious meals, the new program improves the overall patient experience by giving patients more control over what they eat and improved nutrition that will help contribute to faster recovery times.

The Cassans' property rights story makes national news, again

For the second time in less than a month, the Cassan's property rights battle with the City of SeaTac has made national news.

The Cassans have owned the Dollar-A-Day rent-a-car and Park 'n Fly facility across the street from Sea-Tac Airport since 1968. Now, despite a development agreement with the City of SeaTac and the fact that the Cassans' Park 'n Fly has been a part of the city of SeaTac's economic foundation for almost half a century, the SeaTac City Council has passed an ordinance directing that the Cassans' property be taken from them by eminent domain.
